I’ve recently been on a bit of a breakfast kick. I was never really one to eat a lot first thing in the morning, but I think my eating got out of whack so for the past week I’ve been SUPER hungry first thing in the morning.
Now instead of going to Starbucks or Booster Juice to get something to eat/drink (because it really adds up!), I decided to start making my own breakfasts at home that I can bring with me and enjoy at work.
So without further ado, here’s my favourite power breakfast to make the night before: Overnight Oats!
Hannah’s Super Amazing Overnight Oats
Prep time: 5min, to be prepared the night before
Place all ingredients in a mason jar, shake until well mixed, leave in fridge overnight to settle.
Note: you don’t need to follow these measurements exactly, I usually just guesstimate. The more you make the recipe the more you’ll experiment based on whether you want a creamier or more fruity breakfast.
1/3 cup Greek yoghurt, plain or vanilla- you can also use regular yoghurt, but the texture of the Greek yoghurt I find is better
1/2 cup rolled oats
2/3 cup unsweetened milk, I use almond milk
1 tablespoon chia seeds – this is what gives it some of the awesome texture!
2 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips, also works with chocolate chunks. Go for semi-sweet though – milk chocolate I find are too sweet!
1/3 cup mixed berries, I like a combination of raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries. Frozen is fine!
